I still live!

Journal Entry: Sun Feb 24, 2013, 2:43 PM
Yeah, I'm making no promises of regular postings, but I'm getting the urge to create again, so I suppose that's a good thing. However, my premium account ran out a couple weeks back, and I'm finding myself highly annoyed with all the ads now. So I'll have to fix that soon.

Someone sent me another llama badge. I still do not understand the purpose of these things. I'm feeling very much like Castiel right now.

I'm really not sure what direction I'm going in, art-wise. I don't think I really want to be on one path. It feels limiting. I think, for now, I'm just going to do things that make me happy. And if something extraordinary comes out of it, then that's good. Not planning on setting any ridiculous goals for myself like I did last year. I actually did manage to complete my 365 day sketch project. Only it started out as a sketch project and turned into a monster, so I burned myself out horribly. So I haven't even wanted to look at my tablet for weeks. So I won't be doing anything like that again. Shorter term projects, maybe. But I know I always tend to overdo. Go go gadget OCD!

So hopefully, I'll be posting more art in the near future. Hooray!

This is where the art is supposed to go, yes?

Journal Entry: Mon Oct 15, 2012, 5:24 PM
I had intended, originally, to post my sketch-a-day project over here, but I ran into some problems with that. One, posting artwork here is a bit of a pain sometimes. I don't have a lot of time to be mucking about with categorizing everything, and if I were to throw everything into the scraps gallery, no one sees it. And THEN, even after I posted up stuff for a couple of months, DA went through and moved some of those to my scraps, so now the flow is all incoherent, and it looks as if I skipped several days. I think I should be able to arrange things in my own gallery how it makes sense to ME. But that's just crazy talk, I suppose. *grumble*

So I'm not sure if I'm going to be using this much more or not. I mean, I'd like to. It's where art SHOULD go. And I've thrown up a few pieces since, that I just thought would be acceptable as gallery pieces. (God I wish you could hear the sarcastic bile in my voice when I say that.) I just don't know if it's worth my time or aggravation.

Commissions are now open.

Journal Entry: Tue Jun 12, 2012, 3:17 AM
Commissions! I am doing them. I am opening up for commission requests at a special rate for a very limited time. This is to offset the cost of me having to take some time off from the day job due to my health. In fact, I am limiting it to ten requests for the time being so that I don't get swamped. Here are the guidelines for this deal:

1. This is a flat rate, $20 commission. I am going to take the first ten requests that I get.

2. If you would like a piece from me, please send me a private message here, or to my email (dextra.hoffman@gmail.com), ONLY. I won't do requests in post comments. It's easier for me to track this way.

3. These are going to be 1-2 hour pieces, along the same quality as my better daily sketch pieces. You can use the last few days as reference.

4. I enjoy doing fan art pieces, but please, no slash or porn requests. Nudes are ok, but let's keep it classy, eh?

5. I will only take payments via Paypal at the email listed in #2. You don't have to pay up front, but I will require payment before you get the finished piece. If you're wanting something more involved, still, let me know, we can always work something out. :)

I have a website now.

Journal Entry: Sat Jun 2, 2012, 3:36 PM
I'm not really all that big on posting journal entries here. But I thought I should since I went and made myself a website and I thought you'd like to see it.

So here it is: [link]

Let me know what you think. I do have a few coding issues I need to go in and correct, such as removing the contact form (because it doesn't work and I don't like those things anyway).

Well that's a little annoying.

Journal Entry: Mon Feb 13, 2012, 11:59 AM
I noticed something that's bugging me. When I did the initial upload of my daily sketches, I used Sta.sh to upload the backlog and then post them to my gallery from there. They show up as recent deviations in my little gallery preview on my profile like they should. However, when I post them directly from DA, to the same category (Traditional Art / Drawings / Doodles & Sketches), they do not show up in my recent deviations. They go straight to scraps. Then I have to copy them over to my sketch folder.

Is this just a default for that particular category setting? I mean, I don't want to mislabel anything. But if that's just the way it is, I may just either upload all these sketches through Sta.sh from now on, or just do it once a week, because the point is that these are to be seen. And if they're going into my scraps, they're not. So yeah. A little annoying.

Also, on an amusing note, the one sketch I've submitted that has gotten the most attention is the one I hate (in a tongue in cheek manner) the most. January 23rd. The pony and the smurfs. I have a long history of loathing smurfs. But I did it to make someone smile, and it worked, so I'm ok with it. But I'm just so bewildered at that one being the most popular of the bunch. *laughs*

I paid for a premium account, so I suppose that means I should actually start USING this thing. I'll probably start by uploading my daily sketch project that I've been working on since the beginning of the year. Not right now. Maybe tonight. Or over a couple of days. And I'll fluff up my profile and make it all nice looking and stuff. Yay productivity!
